Dundee University Uncover Gene Behind Skin Disease (School Work)

The university of Dundee has uncovered the gene that causes skin disease. In this article they have found out what gene was responsible for the PPK disease. The gene that is responsible is for this skin disease is called the p34 gene. This malfunctioning gene will knock out some cells that are with the skin, and cause them to produce cells faster.  If the skin cells produce faster, then the old skin will start to thicken up and cause discomfort and pain, but if the gene is working properly, then it will make the skin grow normally. This is a really rare malfunctioning gene.  There is a bias here because they are telling us that they have found a new technology on how to cure this gene and no one else has found before.

The science behind this is that not many people have found out want is wrong with this gene and why it happens, but Prof McLean of Dundee university tells you why it happens.  The PPK is a skin disease that only attacks the palms, and the soles of feet, they are a very diverse in the disorders, that show thickening skin in the areas.

Notes:
According to the same article, this disease affects 15,000 people in the UK.
The name of this disease is called Palmoplantar Keratodermas or PPK
