Ender's Game By Orson Scott Card Review

Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card, is a book about a 10 year old kid, called Ender Wiggin and his adventures in space. Ender was taken from his family, and was transferred into a school in space. This school, was designed by the government to train kids to become soldiers and commanders to defend the human race from a race of aliens that they call "buggers." No one can be great at war or even win one, without a strategy.

This book has a strong message, in saying that not everyone is a genius from the start, only a few might be geniuses from the start. But working hard and not giving up whenever, one cannot complete a challenge, is not the way to become a genius if one wasn't one from the beginning. If you don't realize that all books have a theme, they do. The theme that the author has developed throughout this book isn't too strong, so it won't be noticed at first, but as you get deeper into the book, but it will slowly reveal it self.

To help expand the theme the author has chosen each character carefully chosen to show the message of the book. I think that the meaning that the novel has put forth is that not everyone is the same. With this being said, there is a little bit of discrimination, but it is just shown in a different way. For example, those who are special and skilled enough is bumped up to a commander, while the not so special and skilled are trained as soldiers. But I guess that is just how it works in armies. This book is great for grade 9 students, since this book does make you think to one's own life, and how it is similar to Ender's own life, and the challenges that he has faced.
